Approach Area:
Carriers approach from the southeast of the port. Pilotage is compulsory; pilots guide carriers to the mooring or waiting areas far-off the pipelines area. 3 floating buoys are available linking the port to the shore though pipelines.
Port Boundaries:
Ras Gharib is affiliated to the Red Sea Ports Authority. An imaginary line extends 1 mile. eastwards from Ras Gharib, then 1.5 mile. southwards, and then is directed westwards until the shoreline
Berths Description:
Carries are moored on 3 front buoys and 2 rear ones. They are always directed to the North. There are 2 scaffolds on the shore; the north one is 490 feet long, with 3 feet water depth. The second one is 320 feet long with 6 feet water depth.

Date of establishment by the beginning of year 1972.
Berth capacity it accommodates oil tanker with from 30000 tons up to 130000 tons.
Berth characteristics water depth is 78 feet.   It could accommodate carriers  with draft up to 55 feet, & length up to 980 feet regardless of the width.
Mooring system 6 buoys, 3 front ones & 3 at the rear, each buoy is fixed with 4 anchors weighting 10tons each, in addition to tons anchors tied to a nautical cable weighting each 10 tons. Thus, the front anchors weight amounts to100 tons while the rear anchors weight is 80 tons

Navigational lines:
1700 m. long, 30” tugging line for minerals shipping. It is split at the end into2 branches of 12”hoses.Shipping rate varies between1400 tons / hour to 2000 tons / hour according to the viscosity of the mineral.
1700 m. long,18” tugging line for the is charge of ballast water. It ends with 1 branch of 12” hoses. Discharge rate is 2500 m / hour
Oil insulator to prevent sea water pollution. It is linked to the ballast water line; it could be operated for mineral shipping after the  completion of deballasting
North scaffold:
Established at 1956 It is used exclusively by the General Company for the entry of motorboats with a draft not exceeding 6 feet.
South scaffold:
Established at  1980 and them expanded ,It consists of 2 berths, the first one is 81 m long used for vessel anchoring, the other one 25 m long serve as a breakwater, It is used for motorboat entry to offshore platforms, with a draft not exceeding 12 feet.

Vessels should approach berths westwards, and not northwards. Masters should follow the same course to avoid shallow water. Berthing is possible at 2mile west the oil tanks at31m depth

Berth & Services Available at Abou Redes
A berth equipped for feeder vessel berthing, mooring, and tugging. It is outfitted for supplying offshore units with fresh water, fuel, maritime chemical anti-pollutants, and chemicals used in dredging operations, oil wells maintenance. The berth is 40 m. long, 6 m. deep. The approach navigational channel is 120-150 m. wide

Port Description:

Ras Shukeir is located on the western coast of Suez Gulf.
Port Boundaries:
The port entrance is surrounded from the Southeast by the Northern and the Southern breakwaters and by the shipping berth from the west.
Approach Area:
Berthing is possible during daytime. Vessels approach exclusively from the east and when necessary, they could berth at the eastern berth, they are not allowed in any case to berth at the northern berth. Carriers should berth in the designated area in Ras Shukeir. Berthing follows traditional mode using 3 rear buoys & 2 front ones. Vessels leaving Ras Shukeir outlet should determine the estimated time of departure to prevent any impediments for vessels approaching from the south
Berths Description:
Berth no.1 is 940 m distant from the shore, with 18 m water depth, enabling the berthing of vessels with max. length of 300 m.
Berth no.2 is 1 mile south berth no.1 with 28 m water depth enabling the berthing of carriers up to 360 m long.
Berth no.3 is used for oil shipping ,through two pipelines ending with 2 hoses  for oil  shipping&1 hose for ballast water discharge. The oil pipeline diameter is 36 inches.
The ballast water line diameter is 16 inches

Vessels could request berthing in the Gulf southeast the adjacent cape, 1 mile distant from the sea at an approximate depth of 13 m.

Historical Background:

This berth is affiliated to the Red Sea Ports Authority. Pipelines link El-Sadat berth to the shore, then to Suez, where oil is pumped, and berthing carriers are supplied with fresh water to be carried to Hurgada for use at the Red Sea Governorate. Due to hostile raids against Suez Petroleum dock, another site at Ras Hodaib has been chosen.

Port Description:

The port was established directly on the coast, over an area of 4 km2. It includes the offshore platform, specified by the Government of
Egypt for the Company, for the mooring and discharge of floating units  and oil tankers of Sumid company.
The port incorporates offices for pilots, administrative buildings, a dormitory for personnel and a maritime workshops.
The Company undertook the establishment of 2 watertight to protect the port from desert floods. Approach from the sea is performed
through motorboats, using a 300 x 30 m. navigational channel established by the Company.

SIDI KREIR (SUMID)

Port Description:

The port is located on the Mediterranean sea, in Sidi-kreir. It is used for mooring & shipping of oil tankers, and it is exclusively specified for Sumid motorboats, according to a scheme approved by the Minister of Petroleum as a representative of the Government of Egypt. Anti - pollution equipments are available. All navigational aids are also available at Sidi-kreir area.
The motorboat port is located in kilo 29 of  Alexandria / Marsa Matrouh desert road.

Services:

Water Fresh water is provided by Sumid co. through a water net connected to west Alexandria.

Oil Services Jetty of 120 m. Length & 6 m. depth .
Single Pantoon mooring in depths of 32 m.
The service jetty receives L.P.G ga tankers of about 2000 tons.
The Pantoon mooring receives oil tankers of tonnages from 130,000 tons till 250,000 tons
The jetty is also used for receiving mooring lighters as well as supply & service boats by day and night

Approach Area:

Sufficient navigational aids are available to secure the approach of vessels from the sea till the waiting and reception areas.
The jetty is suitable for receiving vessels of various tonnages by day and night on a series of buoys.
